How to set up WooCommerce to Brevo

Here is the whole setup for connecting WooCommerce to Brevo, so you know what to have ready before you start. Most of it takes a few minutes in Brevo and in WooCommerce.

1. Create a v3 API key

In Brevo open SMTP and API, API Keys and generate a new v3 key. Copy it straight away, then open Contacts, Lists and note the numeric ID of the list new contacts should join.

2. Find your WooCommerce fields

Decide which order status sends the data: Processing (payment received) or Completed (order fulfilled). Ora maps billing first name, last name, email, phone and company from the order.

3. Match contact attributes

Brevo stores details as attributes in capitals, such as FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME and SMS. Open Contacts, Settings, Contact attributes to see what exists and create any extra ones before you map them.

4. Describe it to Ora

5. Test on the practice site

Place a test order on the practice site using Cash on Delivery or a 100 percent coupon, move it to your chosen status, then check Brevo. Open Contacts in Brevo and search for the test email. Check the list and the attribute values, and the status if you used double opt-in.

Common snags:

The SMS attribute needs the number in international format with the country code, or Brevo rejects it.
An attribute that does not exist yet is not created automatically, so create it first.
Double opt-in needs a confirmation template chosen in Brevo, otherwise contacts are added without a confirmation email.

Can I get a refund?
