How to set up WooCommerce to Microsoft Teams

Here is the whole setup for connecting WooCommerce to Microsoft Teams, so you know what to have ready before you start. Most of it takes a few minutes in Microsoft Teams and in WooCommerce.

1. Create a workflow webhook

In Teams open the channel, choose Workflows and use the template that posts to a channel when a webhook request is received. Copy the URL it gives you. The older Incoming Webhook connector is being retired, so use Workflows.

2. Find your WooCommerce fields

Decide which order status sends the data: Processing (payment received) or Completed (order fulfilled). Ora maps billing first name, last name, email, phone and company from the order.

3. Choose what the card says

Workflows posts messages as cards. Decide what each card shows, such as the name, email and message, or the order total, and whether it should mention a person or team.

4. Describe it to Ora

5. Test on the practice site

Place a test order on the practice site using Cash on Delivery or a 100 percent coupon, move it to your chosen status, then check Microsoft Teams. Open the channel in Teams and look for the new card. Check the text and any button or link.

Common snags:

The webhook belongs to the person who created the workflow, so use an account that will stay.
Cards have a size limit, so long form answers are shortened.
The workflow must be turned on, or posts are accepted and silently dropped.

Can I still use the old Teams incoming webhook?

Microsoft is retiring Office 365 connectors in favor of the Workflows app. Ora builds this plugin to post to a Workflows webhook URL, which is the route Microsoft recommends.

Do I need WooCommerce and a Microsoft Teams account?

Yes. This plugin is built to run on your WooCommerce store and send data to your own Microsoft Teams account. You don't need to buy Zapier.

Can I get a refund?
