How to set up WooCommerce to Telegram

Here is the whole setup for connecting WooCommerce to Telegram, so you know what to have ready before you start. Most of it takes a few minutes in Telegram and in WooCommerce.

1. Create a bot and find your chat ID

In Telegram message @BotFather, create a bot and copy its token. Add the bot to your group or message it yourself, then ask Ora for the chat ID. Group chat IDs are negative numbers.

2. Find your WooCommerce fields

Decide which order status sends the data: Processing (payment received) or Completed (order fulfilled). Ora maps billing first name, last name, email, phone and company from the order.

3. Choose what the message says

Decide what each alert contains. Telegram messages can use bold text and links, and are limited to 4096 characters, so Ora keeps them short and readable.

4. Describe it to Ora

Paste your own version of the example request on this page, or start from one of the examples, and say which field goes where. Ora replies with a plan and a price, and nothing is built until you approve it.

5. Test on the practice site

Place a test order on the practice site using Cash on Delivery or a 100 percent coupon, move it to your chosen status, then check Telegram. Open the chat in Telegram and look for the new message from your bot. Check the formatting and any link.

Common snags:

A bot cannot message a person until that person has pressed Start in a chat with it.
In a group the bot must be a member, and some groups need it to be an admin.
If you turn a group into a supergroup, its chat ID changes, so update it.

How do I get a bot token and chat ID?

Create a bot by chatting with BotFather in Telegram, which gives you the token. Add the bot to your group, and the plugin's settings page shows how to find the chat ID.

Do I need WooCommerce and a Telegram account?

Yes. This plugin is built to run on your WooCommerce store and send data to your own Telegram account. You don't need to buy Zapier.

Can I get a refund?
