How to set up WooCommerce to Trello

Here is the whole setup for connecting WooCommerce to Trello, so you know what to have ready before you start. Most of it takes a few minutes in Trello and in WooCommerce.

1. Get your API key and token

In Trello open the Power-Ups admin page, create a Power-Up to get your API key, then generate a token with read and write access. Use an account that is a member of the board.

2. Find your WooCommerce fields

Decide which order status sends the data: Processing (payment received) or Completed (order fulfilled). Ora maps billing first name, last name, email, phone and company from the order.

3. Find the board and list

Cards are created in a list on a board. Open the board and add .json to its address to find the list IDs. Tell Ora which list new cards go into, and what the card title, description, labels and due date come from.

4. Describe it to Ora

Paste your own version of the example request on this page, or start from one of the examples, and say which field goes where. Ora replies with a plan and a price, and nothing is built until you approve it.

5. Test on the practice site

Place a test order on the practice site using Cash on Delivery or a 100 percent coupon, move it to your chosen status, then check Trello. Open the board in Trello and look for a new card in the list you chose. Check the description, labels and due date.

Common snags:

Lists are referred to by ID, so moving a card between lists is fine but deleting the target list stops new cards.
Labels are matched by name or colour, so create them on the board first.
A token you generate can be revoked in your Trello account, which stops the plugin until you paste a new one.

Where do I get the Trello key and token?

From the Trello admin page for a Power-Up you own: generate an API key, then authorize a token. You paste both on the plugin's settings page. The token gives access to your Trello account, so keep it private.

Do I need WooCommerce and a Trello account?

Yes. This plugin is built to run on your WooCommerce store and send data to your own Trello account. You don't need to buy Zapier.

Can I get a refund?
