How to set up Ninja Forms to CiviCRM

Here is the whole setup for connecting Ninja Forms to CiviCRM, so you know what to have ready before you start. Most of it takes a few minutes in CiviCRM and in Ninja Forms.

1. Check how CiviCRM is installed
If CiviCRM runs on the same WordPress site, the plugin can talk to it directly and needs no keys. If it lives on another server, you need its REST address, the site key and an API key for a contact with the right permissions.
2. Find your Ninja Forms fields
Open a field in Ninja Forms, go to Administration and read its Field Key (for example email). Keys are unique within each form.
3. Map contact fields and groups
CiviCRM contacts have a type, usually Individual, with first name, last name and email. Say which group each person joins and which custom fields to fill. Custom fields have their own names in CiviCRM, so Ora reads them from your install.
4. Describe it to Ora
Paste your own version of the example request on this page, or start from one of the examples, and say which field goes where. Ora replies with a plan and a price, and nothing is built until you approve it.
5. Test on the practice site
Submit a test entry and look for it under Ninja Forms, Submissions. Open Contacts in CiviCRM and search for the test email. Check the group membership and custom fields.
